Edgar Allen Poe was born on January 19, 1809. He was the second of three children born in his family. His dad disappeared at a young age.His mother died when he was 3 years old. Which he moved in with John and Frances Allan in Richmond, Virginia. Which he bonded with Frances but not quite with John.

The Middle of Poe's Life

In 1826 Poe left for college to take classes at the University of Virginia. He was an amazing student but didn't have enough money due to the fact that his "father" sent him to college with 1/3 of the money he needed. Poe became horribly poor and he was furious his father couldn't provide enough money. He went back to Richmond only to find that his fiancée had remarried because he was gone. He was incredibly angry with Allan and then decided to leave again to join the army. However, two years later he found out that his mother was dying and wanted to see him but by the time he returned she had already been buried. Him and Allan made up and Allan helped Poe get an appointment with the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

1) Poe published his first book, Tamerlane when he turned 18.

2)Before going to West Point, Poe published more poetry.

3) After being at West Point for 8 months Poe was kicked out and published a book shortly after.
