One of these is how to have access to money like every other person, but still staying safe. Sometimes it poses a real problem to handle a bank account. Efforts have been made by some High Street banks to made it easier for this group to access their services. I have enclosed an example of a brochure produced by Barclays . Bearing in mind that many people with learning disabilities cannot read and write, or understand numbers , what issues do you think might arise if they presented themselves at a Barclays to open an account? One of the things we can do is to figure out how much the person can safely handle themselves . we can do this with an assessment first as everybody have different abilities
