An event that brags about the wealth of Gatsby is when Nick notices that many nice cars and people are pulling up in front of his mansion; They are there to either deliver food or to give him gifts. “At least once a fortnight a crop of caterers came down with several hundred feet of canvas and enough colored lights to make a Christmas tree of Gatsby’s enormous garden.” Daisy is most related to the mansion as a symbol because the only reason why Gatsby bought the house was to show off the wealth to Daisy, that he has turned more into a gentlemen over the years they haven’t seen each other.

-Nelson Nguyen

This quote was used in this context to show how people from all over being strangely attracted to the light of his mansion. It represents Gatsby as a enlarged version of himself, flashy on the outside and needed to be filled to have purpose. The event of this book is Just when Nick arrives at his cottage next to this extravagant palace with loud music and roaring people.

This event where Daisy sees Gatsby’s house for the first time has her questioning why such a big house for only him. The only other person that lives in that house is Klipspringer who only plays the piano whenever he is told to by Gatsby. This shows more into how he only bought the huge mansion in order to impress Daisy. There was also a time where he kept his house all lit up in order to grab her attention from across the bay.
-Nelson
