- The scriptures provide us with guidelines to follow in order to live in God's image, if we do this we provide our students with role models to follow and allow us to share our faith in God.
- The scriptures provide us with stories to share with our students about Jesus and how he lived.

Some journeys are direct, some circling. When you listen to your life, what is it speaking to you?
- We question our lives and make decisions that change the direction we take often in order to become better and follow in Jesus' footsteps. For some life will be direct, others it will be a circle and again others it will be a winding road.

How do we reach our deep gladness? How we share the deep joy that Jesus speaks of with our students?

In the younger grades, we can use the scriptures as a way to connect with our students through the storyline. In the high school grades, students make more connections to other religions with their own (e.g. World Religion class). 

2. We mentioned that there is not necessarily a direct journey of life. As we circle through life, we learn from our mistakes and our successes, and we learn about which direction we want to go. This ties in with the past year we've had where we have had to adjust our ways during a pandemic.

3. The way we reach our deep gladness can be different based on our beliefs and our background. Some people connect more to nature, some connect more to family, while others connect more with the church. We can share this joy by modelling the Gospel Values to our students in being a good person. 2.  Journeys can be long yet so worth it.  Many of us have had different career paths, some direct and some long.  However, in each case when we were able to listen to the inner voice or guiding voice we found teaching and are now listen and becoming the teacher we are destined to be. 
3. Joy is individual. Trusting your inner voice and staying true to your intentions. Teaching joy like Jesus is feeling the peace and happiness that he preaches. Parables can be used as a way to connect to students

Cartoons available on Youtube to connect with the kids

Allowing students to make their own connections and understanding between materials and Scripture

Our journeys are all unique and we experience faith and God in different ways: our journeys, whether direct or circling all come back to one central idea- God

Diversity in students and their lived experiences: they experience life and their faith will develop naturally through life experiences

Spirituality: we are all spiritual beings and we are all connected despite our paths being different 

Reaching our gladness: being present every day, finding moments of joy

Allowing students to accept themselves for who they are will help them find joy

Being vulnerable for our students will help them see that they can be vulnerable too; we develop trust this way

2.  We are the next generation of Catholic Educators and it is up to us to bring the scripture into a current context. The bioethics section highlighted this for us in great detail. There was significant conflict in our own values as people and as educators (many of us who teach science). How do we take up this calling/vocation to interpret the bible with current and controversial topics such as this.

3. We think that we reach our deep joy through respecting our callings as educators, through respecting and valuing the experiences and perspectives of others. Palmer spoke about vocation and looking inside for our truth. When we seek this truth and show it to others, we will connect in joy.
