The more colorful diction he used the more it took away from his point. However, he did open my mind to things that I never would've thought of on my own. He puts a new twist on musical elements that may seem fantastic to music majors and people who are actually interested in theoretical elements. Not saying that his elements aren't real but they are very biased in the sense that he doesn't see room for flaws in the elements and some of them have actual names but he just tries to explain them in a different way as if he made up something new. Personally, as a kinesiology major I will never think of Ratliff while I'm listening to my everyday music.
