In Chapter 39, "Be the First Penguin", Randy Pausch gave an award to his students at the end of the semester, to award them for their failures. Pausch wanted to encourage his students to fail, so they would learn from them and grow. He talked about teaching a course called "Building Virtual Worlds", and influenced his student to attempt hard challenges. He tells how it is good to fail and how it's not good to always have constant success. He awarded a group of students with an award, that signified the failures that were filed but overcame.

Explanation: Even though it is okay to fail, it is extremely important to. Accepting failure will help to grow and learn from. It is extremely important to fail then it will help with knowledge, experience and accomplishments.

Explanation: Having failures will make a person more experience and bond to not make the same mistakes. Having no failures and succeeds everything, will cause that person to be more ignorant and not concerned about people or surrounding around them.

Quote #3: "...I'd present one team of students with a stuffed animal- a penguin . It is called 'The First Penguin award' and went to the team had took the biggest gamble in trying new ideas or new technology, while failing to achieve their stated goals." (Pausch 148-149)

Explanation: Randy Pausch wanted to award the students who failed but tried new thing that caused them to succeed. Trying new ideas or new technology (even though they may fail) it helps to bring knowledge to what they did wrong to manipulate the idea to make it better.
