From the official announcement on the Facebook page of San Pascual Baylon Parish and National Shrine of Nuestra Señora de la Inmaculada Concepcion de Salambao on Monday, September 22, the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) is willing to submit the Nissan Navara pickup donated on June 1, 2024.

The church clearly emphasizes that the donated vehicle was accepted in “good faith”, intended to be used in church activities specifically in some religious events that needed to transport the image of Our Lady of Salambao to different churches as part of spreading devotion, such as pilgrimages.

“[It] was given wholeheartedly and we accepted without judgment on the intent of the donor,” the church explained.

Following Alcantara’s allegations of anomalies in the flood control project, church leaders in Obando discussed the situation and decided to return the vehicle through proper procedures, in coordination with the Diocese of Malolos and the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

The parish expressed its gratitude to the concerned people which led to proper processes of returning the pickup, wherein the church wholeheartedly apologized to the devotees and parishioners, adding that the decision was made to uphold its commitment to integrity and justice.

Alcantara has been linked to various

corrupt activities involving flood control projects in Bulacan, including ”ghost” and “substandard” work. One of the highlights of the issue is his approval of the P55-million river wall in Baliuag, which was assigned to SYMS Construction Trading.
