This poem fits in with the theme of "The Bonds Between Us" because if you have a sister, there is no other bond like it. Having a sister is also like having an unbreakable bond. It's like having a friend but more. I have a sister named Kyli and she's one of my best friends. We're both around the same age so we can relate with a lot of things. It's nice to know you have someone who is there for you and who you can trust.

A video representing a human-animal bond

This video fits in with the theme of "The Bonds Between Us" because animals and humans can have a special bond. Animals and humans are essential to the health and well-being of both. This includes, emotional, psychological, and physical interactions of humans, animals, and the environment. Humans can speak pretty well, but even elephants can figure out how to make the same sounds we do. According to researchers, an Asian elephant living in a South Korean zoo has learned to use its trunk and throat to mimic human words. The elephant can say "hello," "good," "no," "sit down" and "lie down," all in Korean, of course. The elephant doesn't appear to know what these words mean. Scientists think he may have picked up the sounds because he was the only elephant at the zoo from when he was 5 to when he turned 12, leaving him to bond with humans instead.

My sister and I- This image fits in with the theme of "The Bonds Between Us" because my sister and I are close even though she's so little. I sometimes play with her because she likes when I do. I took this picture when my sister and I were swinging on the swing set in our backyard. Having a bond with your siblings is very important because its the people you live with. Having a sister is also like having an unbreakable bond. You practically know everything about your siblings. It's also good to have a bond with your siblings because they shape our history and our character. We might not always have a good relationship with our siblings, but they'll always be very interested in you. It's also nice to always know someone will have your back. A sibling is a random person with who you must live with throughout your childhood. Unlike a friend or a lover or a spouse, you do not choose a sibling based on your parents. It is proven that when siblings go through bad times, it brings them closer.

This story has many way it connects to our essential question, "The Bonds Between Us". The author explains, "Yawn contagion reflects the power of unconscious synchronous, which is as deeply ingrained in us as in many other animal." What the author means is that humans and animals can bond through yawning. The author also explains, "Or your entire group becomes sleepy and settles down, so you too become sleepy. Mood contagion serves to coordinate activities, which is crucial for any traveling species." This means that when humans have a certain mood, most likely the people around you will have the same mood. This also goes for animals.

The Grasshopper and the Bell Cricket

This story has many ways it connects to our essential question, "The Bonds Between Us". In this story the bell cricket is represented a women who is rare, special, and worthy of love. The grasshopper is represented as just average. In the Japanese culture, beauty is linked with sadness. Crickets were also symbols of good luck. The bell cricket was appreciated for its song, not its beauty. The lanterns in the story represented the individuality of the children. The bond in the story is how the children are lanterns, and how both the crickets represent opposite things. The author said, "Even a true bell cricket will seem like a grasshopper. Should that day come, when it seems to you that the world is only full of grasshoppers." This means that a true bell cricked can seem like a grasshopper because of its looks. They both look similar, it just the bell cricket is appreciated for its songs not beauty.

My friend Sami and I- This image fits in with the theme of "The Bonds Between Us" because my friend Sami and I are in dance, and we both love it. We bond through dance because it interests both of us and we spend a lot of time together because of dance. Having a friend is an important bond because without friends, life would be way less interesting. Friends are central to our enjoyment of life and a sense of who we are. This picture was taken at our dance picture day. Our dance group wore blue dresses. Whenever we had dance practice, Sami would come over to my house so we could practice our dances together. We also both encouraged each other to get our splits. Soon enough we both got our splits together. What I learned from that is, friends are encouraging. They want you succeed, and they'll be right by your side through it all. Well, that just goes to the true friends.. There are many fake friends who want you to fail instead, but you have to stay away from those people. A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself, and especially to feel or, not feel. Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment is fine with them. That's what real love amounts to... letting a person be who they really are.

My grandparents dog an I- This image fits in with the theme of "The Bonds Between Us" because dogs are very fun to play with. This dog is named Abby. She loves to play fetch and cuddle. She's also a very good protective dog. I babysit her for my grandparents when they are away from their home. One time I even babysat her for a week. Over the span of a week I really got to know her. We bonded in many ways like running around in the backyard and we both love to eat. Whenever I sat on the couch to eat she would put her head on my lap and beg for some. We also bond in ways like personality wise. Abby is a very friendly dog who loves her family. I can relate because I think i'm friendly and I also love my family. "A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.” This quote means dogs would do anything for their family/owners. Dogs are not only our whole life, but they make our lives full. Without them, who would keep us company or protect us? I use to be a huge fan of cats..After babysitting my grandparents dogs for so long, I think I like dogs more.

This story has many ways it connects to our essential question, "The Bonds Between Us". In this story Juan got caught with his guard down before he could even realize what he had taken as a stroke of luck was really one of fate's dirty tricks. He began with a letter he wanted to send to his friend Mariana, but he was afraid the letter wouldn't get to her because of the censors. He soon came up with a plan to work as a censor so he could send the letter without and censored words. As he was on this working journey and moving up levels, he began to love the job. One day his letter finally reached his hands. Naturally, he censored it without regret. The government the executed him the following morning. The author wrote, "..another victim of his devotion to his work." The bond in this story is many other people got killed because their loyalty to their work.
