Sound Energy is when Energy travels through sound waves, such as voices or music. In this example, the sound waves are traveling so the people can hear (maybe too well). More examples of other sound energy comes from radios, laptops, and talking.

Thermal Energy

Thermal energy is a type of Energy that moves through heat and temperature. Thermal energy can be both hot or cold! Some examples of this are icebergs, the sun, and the fire that is shown. (Don't get any ideas...)

Mechanical energy is a type of energy that is anything that requires work, also known as just any movement. In this case Sonic is just running down the road! Other examples of this type of energy is driving a car or just simply walking.

Radiant energy (Also known as light energy) is energy from the sun or from any light source! Radiant energy from the sun is also the start of food chains in the animal kingdom. Think about it, the sun produces plants, that gets eaten by rabbits or whatever, and then gets eaten by predators!

Electrical Energy is Energy that travels through electricity, and it's charged by electrons. If the cord is cut the electrons can't pass anymore. In this case, these electrons are really charged up!

Chemical energy is like you eating some food, after it is digested it produces chemical energy! Same with animals just so you know. It's kept in the joins of chemical compounds!

Q: Can energy even change?

A: Yes, energy can go through transformations, as long as they have the right conditions. Energy causes a chain reaction. When one type of energy is used, it starts another type of energy!

Q: Can energy be created or destroyed?

A: No, it cannot due to the Law of Conservation of Mass which states that "Energy cannot be created or destroyed". Scientists have actually attempted to break this law numerous times, but all have failed. But, once the law has been broken in the future it will no longer be a law.

Q: Can objects transfer more than one type of energy?

A: Yes! Another energy may be created but that energy is called "waste energy" which is energy that is not used. Usually, waste energy is the unintentional energy type that is generated. Some examples of waste energy is the heat that the sun gives off, and when electrical energy is used to power a video game console and it gives off heat.

Some examples of that are sound waves traveling, thermal energy going down on earth by the sun, and electrical energy is being transferred to your device so you can watch YouTube Kids on your iPad! Energy can also be transformed into another different type of energy. Don't believe me? Then here is an example, electrical energy being transferred to a radio to transform the electrical energy into sound energy! Ha ha, proved you wrong!
