Trust - building trust takes time. If they trust you, you can make suggestions more easily. 
Community connection is important - collaboration with the resources that the community uses/depend on creates a connection and a trust - allows us to reach more families,
Start aligning our partnerships to serve the focus of where the school is going.
Focus on student partnerships and their ownership - connecting them to our practices.

Community support is necessary - town/organizations.  Not always asking for things - school needs to contribute.  How can we help our students be the global citizens we strive for them to be.

Bringing in community members with specialties like sewing, sports, etc... would create a holistic community-school culture. Posting to facebook/sending home notes also keeps families in the loop.
