We should not expect thirst to drink water, since it represents that the body is already deficient in relation to the level of water desired. Dehydrated individuals have lower blood volume than normal, which ultimately disrupts the functioning of the heart. Lack of water can cause weakness, dizziness, headache, fatigue and, if prolonged, lead to death.

We are accustomed to hearing that we only need to drink 1.5 liters of water daily to be well hydrated. But with the heat it is necessary to drink more.

Summer is time for beach, pool and sunbathing. But as the body dehydrates more quickly at this time of year, to enjoy these activities to the fullest, you need to drink water regularly.

According to Lauren Minchen, a North American nutritionist, the amount of water we should drink depends on our weight and our body. Quoted in The Huffington Post, the nutritionist says, "The exact amount varies from person to person. But for an adult the target should be between 2 and 4 liters per day." He added that if we exercise regularly it is necessary to consume more water for the muscles to work well.

Drink water in winter: understand why it's so important

To walk, to work, to sleep and even to breathe, the body spends more energy in the winter. The energy we spend doing normal day-to-day activities is greater because at the same time that it is performing, the body is also protecting itself from the cold, self-heating.

The loss of water at this time of year, therefore, is greater, contrary to what is imagined. Drinking about 2 liters of water per day is essential to prevent the body from getting sick from dehydration. Dizziness and nausea are signs that there may be lacking hydration.
