         <description><![CDATA[<div>Who: England- Under Edward III and France -Under Phillip VI<br>What: The land battle between the British and French, After the Battle of Sluys when Edward claimed himself as king of France and England.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -England won this battle with devastating casualties, because of the use of the longbow.&nbsp;<br>When: August 26th,1346<br>Where: In the small town French town of Crecy<br>Why: Phillip declares war in order to try and get the crown back.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Battle of Nevilles&#39;s Cross</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Who: This battle was between the Scottish- led by King David II and The English -&nbsp; nobles and Ralph Neville.<br>What: This battle is when Scotland invades and goes across Northumberland, while they wait for "protection money". When the English heard this, they put an army together to stop Scot's invasion. Scots go back to Scotland, to aid everyone that was hurt, and later a treaty comes out.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; - The English won even though they were outnumbered. They also had the advantage of having land helped them win.<br>When: October 17th,1346<br>Where: The Battle happened in the town of Durham, specifically by Neville's cross that was on the hill the Scots stood on.<br>Why: Because England planned an invasion and France and Scots had an alliance together so the Scots were helping the French out, by battling the English. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Battle of the Thirty </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Who: This battle was against the French and English, with the french led by Charles of Blois and the English led by John of Montfort. These two families had a rivalry going on, which helped with the conflict of the Hundred Years' War. Both of these commanders had support from their kings.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;Charles of Blois (french) eventually won this battle, with casualties bad on both sides. John eventually surrendered when they had a higher number of deaths. They were then captured, but later let out on a ransom.&nbsp;<br>What: This battle had a limited amount if people, both sides only had thirty soldiers.&nbsp;<br>When: March 27th,1351<br>Where: Morbihan, France<br>Why:  This battle happened because both sides have been fighting for the succession of the dutchy&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Who:<br>-Peasant Revolt<br>-King Richard II<br>What:&nbsp;<br>-It started in a small village but eventually grew to almost the entire northern France<br>-The Jacquerie rebels had destroyed noble castles&nbsp;<br>-There were dozens of noblemen who were killed before being put down in a bloody wave of suppression.<br>-This revolt occurred at the peak of the Black Plague and during the Hundred Years' War.<br>-This revolt was closely connected to a rebellion in Paris against the French crown<br>-The Peasant won<br>When: May 28, 1358-June 10, 1358<br>Where: Northern France<br>Why:<br>-This revolt was caused by excessive taxation that the French government imposed after getting defeated by the English&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Battle of Poitiers</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Who: This battle was between England and France. With the black prince representing the England side, and Jean II representing the French side.&nbsp;<br>What: French men were pushed back into a defensive stand, and kept pushing the English forces. This battle had a big use of longbows, with them waiting to push in through small openings. The french had changed there armor so arrows could not penetrate them so instead, the English men would shoot at their horses.&nbsp;There was also a big storm before and the french got stuck in the mud. <br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;- The French had lost this battle, with Jean II being captured, and then shortly after a treaty was made, the treaty of Bretigny in 1360.&nbsp;<br>When: September 19th,1356<br>Where: In the city Poitiers in France.&nbsp;<br>Why: The black prince went on a rampage of burning places/stealing , and fleeing from the french. The French catch them  and they battle each other. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Who:<br>-England- Under Henry V<br>-France- Under Charles D'Albret<br>What:&nbsp;<br>-Most well-known battle of the Hundred Years' War<br>- Henry V on his way to Calais was intercepted by the french<br>-After provoking the French army to attack, Henry used defensive military tactics<br>- Offensively he used wooden stakes driven into the ground, Longbows.<br>-The French struggled with muddy terrai making it difficult to advance<br>-Ended up being a quick and decisive victory for England with few casualties compared to France<br>-England Won<br>When: October 25, 1415<br>Where: Azincourt, France<br>Why:<br>- The English only lost about 400 people<br>-The French lost about 6,000 which of many were noblemen<br>-The longbow became a very good tactic to use when it came to fighting for the English.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Battle of Roen</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Who: This battle was between France and England, With England led by Henry IV and France&nbsp;<br>What: This battle happened when Henry was on a campaign, where he was taking land from the French. Roen was an important city and one the last he got. The French heard of what Henry was doing and changed the city's defense, by putting a wall around it. Henry soon realized he couldn't seize the city in one day, so instead, he did it over a couple of months by waiting till they were forced to surrender.<br>&nbsp;- The French ended up surrendering, and the English got the City of Roen.&nbsp;<br>When: July 31, 1418 - January 19, 1419<br>Where: It happened in the City of Rouen in France<br>Why: The reason Henry wanted this city was that he had captured most of the major cities except for Roen, and he wanted to have this one as well. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Who:<br>- English- under William de la Pole<br>-French- under Joan of Arc<br>What:&nbsp;<br>-At the time of the Siege of Orleans Joan of Arc was able to sneak into the city<br>-She then was able to convince Charles to give her a small army. She cut her hair to look more like a man because women were easy targets.<br>-Joan of Arc and her men fought for many days but were eventually defeated by the English army<br>When: October 12, 1428- May 8, 1429<br>Where: Orleans, France<br>Why:<br>-Joan of Arc said that she was hearing voices from God that she was supposed to have a mission.<br>-She saw the mission of saving Orleans by defeating the English.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Who:&nbsp;<br>-England- under Thomas de Montacute<br>-French- under Joan of Arc<br>What:&nbsp;<br>-This was the turning point of the Hundred Years' War.&nbsp;<br>-English captured the city of Orleans and looked like they were in good shape after stopping the French from intercepting their resupply.<br>- Joan of Arc rallies the French troop. Convince the king of France that she was on a "divine mission" to restore to its neutral line.&nbsp;<br>-April 1429, she enters the city and a month later, she leads successful assaults on the English<br>When: October 1428-May 1429<br>Where: Orleans, France<br>Why:&nbsp;<br>-At this point, England looks like it will eventually take control of all of France.&nbsp;<br>-The city held strategic and symbolic significance to both sides of the conflict.<br>-Also an inheritance dispute over the French throne between the ruling houses of both England and France</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Who:&nbsp;<br>-French- Under Charles de Bourbon<br>-English- Under Sir Thomas Kyriell<br>What:&nbsp;<br>-French initialized the attack with cannons<br>-British captured the cannons but did not advance forward<br>-French were joined by the Bretons and recaptured the cannons<br>-English forced to fight in 2 directions (makes the army weaker)<br>-French captured Kyriell and the English soon surrendered after<br>-French Won<br>When: April 15, 1450<br>Where: Formigny La Bataille, France<br>Why:<br>-The English ceased to exist with 3,754 killed and 1,200-1,400 taken prisoner<br>-The French casualties were estimated to be less than 1,000 and more likely around 500 men</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Who:<br>-England- under John Talbot<br>-France- under Jean Bureau<br>What:&nbsp;<br>-Decisive French victory and overall end of the Hundred Years' War<br>-2 years earlier the French retook Gascony, but the citizens of Bordeaux wanted the English to return<br>-As the English approach the city, they are faced with several cannons fortified under heavy guard<br>-The city of Castilon fell 2 days later and the war was over the British drove out<br>-Victories such as this signify how the French were able to adapt to new war tactics<br>-France became a strong artillery country in just a few years after seeing the English use it<br>- The French only lost about 100 people<br>-The English had 4,000 people killed, wounded, and/or captured<br>-French won<br>When: July 17, 1453<br>Where: Castillon la Bataille, France<br>Why:<br>-The French camp followers' departure which had been instructed to by Bureau.&nbsp;<br>-Seeking a strike a decisive blow immediately ordered his men to form for battle and then sent them without scouting the position of the French<br><br></div>]]></description>
