Beyond the party atmosphere, Ovar is also famous for its gastronomy, specifically the Pão de Ló de Ovar. This isn't just a regular sponge cake; it is a creamy, golden delight with a soft, almost liquid center. Made simply from eggs, sugar, and flour, it has been a local tradition for centuries and is officially protected as a product of Indication of Geographical Origin. Traditionally served in white linen paper, it is the ultimate soul food for anyone visiting the region.

However, Ovar is not just about the past. In recent years, the city has made its mark on the modern music scene through the artist Sippinpurpp. Born and raised in Ovar, André Vaz (his real name) became a pioneer of the trap genre in Portugal. Volos is a coastal port city in Thessaly Region, situated midway on the Greek mainland, about 330 kilometres north of Athens and 220 kilometres south of Thessaloniki. It is the sixth most populous city of Greece. It is the capital of the Magnesia regional unit of Thessaly Region. Volos is the only outlet to the sea from Thessaly, the country's largest agricultural region. With a population of 150.000 it is an important industrial centre, while its port provides a “bridge” between Europe and Asia.

The city of Volos consists of the administrative and academic center of University of Thessaly, which was founded in 1984, and is the most important center of education in central Greece. The faculties of Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences and Agricultural Sciences with their twelve Departments are based in Volos, enforcing the academic, economic and cultural development of the city.

Argo in Greek mythology was the ship on which the Argonauts boarded with Jason as their leader, in order to go to Colchis and get the golden fleece. It took its name from the builder of Argos. Almost 3,500 years later, a modern Argo set sail for a scientific-experimental voyage to the Adriatic.

In 2004, on the initiative of the Municipality of Volos, the reconstruction of the ship began. To build the new version of Argos, wood was collected from Pelion, while the tools and construction techniques were "pulled" from antiquity!

Volos Railway Station is located in the city, next to the port. The station opened on April 22, 1884 and is served by local trains to Larissa. The grand opening of the station was carried out by King George A. Today in the building beyond the station, on the first floor there is a railway museum.
The neoclassical building of the station was designed by the Italian architect Evaristo de Chirico. The shape of the building remains the same since it was built, while it is one of the few buildings that survived the earthquakes that struck Volos in the 1950s. Outside the station there is a statue of the goddess Athena.

The Museum of the City of Volos is the first modern City Museum in Greece. Its operation began in December 2014. It is housed in the building of the former tobacco factory Panaghia Papadou, which was built around 1920. In the courtyard of the Museum there is a part of the eastern side of the wall of the castle of Palaion.

Whenever I am there to support Pescara, I feel a deep sense of unity with the crowd. It is a unique experience where the world outside seems to disappear. We went by boat and saw pelicans and herons. It's like a different world, just water and reeds everywhere. My phone had no signal the whole time which was actually kind of nice.
