The reason why the Mesosaurus fossils (the physical bones of the animal.) were found in two different locations, South America and Africa. The fossil is evidence because it shows us where the animal ended up. Geologists study this type of structure, they study fossils and this could also be called geology ( the science that deals with physical structure.) The Mesosaurus is a lizard type dinosaur that can swim in the water but not for a long period of time. What we know from the fossil evidence is that the Mesosaurus ended up in South America and Africa. The problem is we don't know how they ended up at two different locations.

The plates(two things that over or go way from each other And you can find plates by Earth's crust and uppermost mantle.) (A mantle is the mostly-solid bulk of Earth's interior.) So the plates moved away from each other which is called a divergent boundary (when to plates move away from each other) also divergent boundary have a mid-ocean-range. A convergent boundary is when two plates come together and that has a trench. When plates move together/ move apart they create land forms like trenches and mid-ocean-ranges. When plates move together it creates earthquakes but also when the plates move away and together it creates earthquakes and volcanic activity. Earthquakes( a sudden of shaking on Earths surface.) volcanic activity(when lava and gas are released from a volcano—sometimes explosively.)

Pangea was a place that people think that it broke apart and was caused by a divergent boundary. A divergent plate boundary caused this because of the "convection currents that roll over in the upper zone of the mantle." So that caused Pangea to move. The rate of a plate motion is 2cm a year. We know this because of gps , gps tracks from satellites and tracks movement. So it can track how much plates move a year (Present). Before gps they had to tell by the mid-ocean-range and how far it moved apart (past).

In conclusion, the Mesesarus fossils were found on two different continents and it was a divergent boundary because divergent boundary's form mid-ocean-ranges, volcanic activity, and earthquakes. Also the technology today is evidence because we can see the rate and how far the plates have moved already Lastly the continents are like puzzle pieces and we know this because of the edges. This is evidence because it shows that the continents used to be together.
