He doesn't give out a lot of information to Santiago but when he does, it seems really important in Santiago's journey.

A book that I enjoyed and made an impact on me is Animal Farm. It taught me to think more critically of situations. It also taught me to not blindly trust normal things. The book talks about politics but very subtly. And that sparked my interest in politics.

I found Perks of Being a Wallflower to be a very insightful piece of literature into a high-schooler's life. It demonstrated the many struggles a student undergoes when trying to fit in socially and academically in a judgmental atmosphere. I found it impactful to my life because it told a story of how a troubled Charlie had the ability to feel like somebody within a crowd of people that once made him feel like nobody.

The alchemist was definitely the character I expected: someone mystical, strange, simple, and wise. Why? Whenever I think of the word "alchemist", I think of some medieval era witch doctor (not really a witch doctor) trying to find the "elixir" of life. This reminds me of the many failed attempts of the many alchemists who tried to turn copper into gold.

Opposed to the stereotypical aroma that a narcissistic persona gives off, this story appears to make it seem like an entirely natural characteristic. The Alchemist has a message that focuses on how oneself and can connect to themselve by nature. Santiago learns the secrets of the world only by pursing his dream before anything else which some might say is selfish or narcissistic.

"The shepherd said nothing. He had hunderstood the story the old king had told him. A shepherd may like to travel, but he should never forget about his sheep." (32).
