pg-101 I can infer that August cutting off his padawan braid represents him getting older and more mature sense he is going to a real school now and Via is so upset about this because she still sees August a her little baby brother when he is not.
pg-355 I can infer that death might be one of the main themes in the book. I can support this because death is talked about a lot, such as Via talking about her grandmas death, Daisy dying, Jack saying "if I looked like him, seriously , I think that I'd kill myself." And at the end of Space Oddity it is inferred that Major Tom dies from the lyrics "Tell my wife I lover her very much, she knows, ground control to Major Tom your circuits dead there's something wrong can you here me Major Tom, Can you here me Major Tom, can you here me Major Tom."
pg-205 I can infer that the reason that Summer got invited to the Halloween party was that Savanna wanted to induct her into the popular group I can infer this because Savanna keeps talking Julian has a crush on her.

August, a 10 year old boy with major deformities in his face is terrified when his parents tell him that he will be going to a real school this year, on the first day he meets a girl named Summer who sits with him at lunch and he eventually becomes friends with Jack one of the kids who came in early to meat him and show him around the school. August cuts off his padawan braid after the first day of school witch represents him getting older and his sister Via is upset about this. On Halloween Jack says some mean things about August to Julian August's bully witch makes him very upset at Jack and strengthen his friendship with Summer.

The main character goes through several stages of thinking about himself. At first he thinks he's not ready for school and that he is still a little kid and this is supported by him being worried about going to a real school pg 28. Then he feels like he is more mature sense he cuts of his padawan braid pg 101. Then he feels like no one cares about him when Jack says mean things about him pg 131 and when he finds out that some kids where asked to be friends with him. Then he regains his friends he feels like its them against the world when Julian and his gaining are doing mean things to August and his friends pg 270. And finally August feels like he belongs in the school when at the graduation ceremony everyone comes over to take pictures with August pg 486.

I think that the theme of the book is that life may seem unfair at points but it evens out in the long run. I think this because in the book August experiences many negative moments in 5th grade but always around the corner some thing good happens like when Jack said he would kill himself if he looked like August then August was very upset but because of that his relationship with summer strengthened. Also at the beginning of the book August hates the idea of going to a real school but at the end he tells his mom that he is glad he went. Another reason is that Justin said at the end of his part "but the universe makes it all even at the end."

My opinion of the book was mostly positive. I did like the authors use of characterization and all of the characters seemed real and well described (Except for Julian who is fairly dull). I also liked that there where few boring parts of the book and the author added many events to keep up the pace. I did not love the subject of the book mostly because I do not like the majority of drama books but this book is one of the few exceptions.
