This wouldn’t be the first time Russia’s invaded the Ruthenian people. In 2014, during the Ukrainian Revolution, they invaded Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk. They proceeded to then form “free” and “independent” governments, although everyone knows where the decisions are coming from.

The Ukrainians are also currently helping Moldova in the fight against Transnistria (officially the Pridnestrovian Moldovian Republic or PMR). It’s a semi-independent state that is mistaken as communist even though they are semi-presidential.

N.A.T.O members have started sending support to Ukraine through military advisers and sanctions on Russia. It is unlikely that N.A.T.O members will actually go to war though as Russia is one of the main gas and fuel suppliers of the E.U.

It is believed that Russia was trying to influence and change Ukraine’s foreign policy. It has ultimately failed at this goal and is now trying to prevent Ukraine from N.A.T.O. It is apparent though that Russia will have less of a response if Ukraine decides to join the E.U instead, although it will still react aggressively, just not as aggressively as if the U.S would get involved.

Fortunately, experts doubt there will be any invasion at all. They say that if Russia wanted to invade, it would have done so much sooner (when support from other nations would be non-existent), and the chance of invasion is below 25%. The more Russia waits, the less likely it is for war to break out.
