         <title>Birthday Portraits</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>On the first day of school students use sharpie on canvas to do a self-portrait of themselves. They consider pieces of their identity that they want to include in their portrait. Then on their birthday (or half-birthday for summer birthdays) students use watercolors to paint their portraits. At the end of the year I write a note on the back for each student highlighting their growth over the year.</p>]]></description>
