One of my absolute favourite memories of Mana is listening to her sing her favourite songs by Lata didi and Asha Bhosale. This dear friend of mine had an old soul, but also a childlike quality to her personality that I can simply never forget. I love that she treated her friends to wada pav in school when Asha Bhosale had her birthday. This hauntingly beautiful song was one of Mana's favourite's! It was on the top of a playlist she once made for me, which was quite aptly called " Manane dileli BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP gani" I miss her, I miss sharing music with her, I miss singing with her, I miss learning from her. <3 - Aabha

Chilling post college

Four years after college, Mrunmayi and I met at several social dos thanks to common friends at Pune Mirror. I particularly remember this late-night gathering when she had a lot of fun at my expense. She kept asking me what part of dignity I had rented to top college (hahahaha!). Despite having met her back in 2009, I think the ice was broken that buzzy evening in 2016.

My memory of Moon is this.

Insanely talented, intelligent, funny and kind. SO kind. Shining brilliantly but not alone - always making everyone around her shine just as bright, with her love and generosity.

I remember my first impression of her when she was introduced to me as one of our freelance writers. "What a sweet, shy, calm girl," I thought.

But soon I found, much to my amazement, what a beautiful, strong storm she is! Maybe that's why I LOVED compliments from Moon. Made me feel warm and shiny and really special. Because Moon's ALL of that. And more.

Keep shining, Moon. Love you and miss you.

I remember her from her birth. What a cute and naughty as a kid. Remember her first singing Khaba khabai for hava havai a song from Mr. India. At the age of may be one and half or two.

They called you moon, but you were a star,

You are still with us, so close from afar

We remember your cardio, that gave us a laugh.

And not to forget, your signature- sunglasses and scarf!

You wrote so well, the editor was head over heels

You loved your beer to drink, bacon for meals

What I also miss, is the Maggi and cold coffee at home,

With extra masala cubes and some extra foam!

Your love for books, for Rhett butler and sound of music

Your love for classical songs, and the tracks you’d pick!

And when you sang, there was so much passion and grace

We could see it in the hand gestures, and we saw it on your face!

We loved the writer you, you were exceptional at work.

But we also miss the you, with so much sass and quirk!

We saw you when you were naive, so simple and sweet

But we also enjoyed your new era, with a peculiar sari pleat.

We miss the time you stopped us and refused to come down

For you did not want us to see you, in your old style night gown

But we also miss the part two, where you matured with strong views

Spoke about left wingers and regularly tracked the news

And now I wonder how fun it would be, to have you around today,

You could have drank with Shaan, bonded with Omkar and jammed with Pawale.

And I can go on and on, and want you more and more,

Connected through music!

Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture with Mrunmayi, but I have always connected with her through music. She used to come to learn from me in my batch at Saleel dada’s music school and I still remember the sincerity she had. She has written a couple of articles about me and my music, and I recently found one. So thought of sharing it here.

I have always been fond of her writing, and I used to enjoy whatever she wrote.

Hope you can feel all of our love today and always, Mrunmayi!
