- goring's steps to implicate the Gestapo
1.  He prohibited regular uniformed police from interfering with Nazi Brownshirts out in the streets. 
2. He then purged the Berlin police department of politically unreliable cops and had 50,000 storm troopers sworn in as special police auxiliaries. Now the storm troopers had actual power of arrest and they relished its use. 
3. Next he turned his attention to the plain-clothes police. On April 26, 1933, a decree was issued creating the Secret Police Office 
-Goring used the Gestapo to silence Hitler's opposition in surrounding areas and increase his own political power as well.

- They ruthlessly got rid of all opposition to the Nazis in Germany and the territories it occupied.
- The Gestapo partnered with the Sicherheitsdienst, a Nazi intelligence agency, to round up Jews and deport them to camps.
- Göring gave Himmler control of the Gestapo later, and following this, Himmler also took control of the German Order Police -- Quickly, the many police departments all became unified under him.
- The Gestapo didn't need judicial approval and it operated without civil restraints therefore they had great power to make decisions that effected thousands.
- The Gestapo also aided in the deportation of many Jews to concentration and extermination camps.
- They also served as guards at these camps.
- They guarded and supervised ghettos, imposed forced labor, and purposely caused starvation and disease, attempting to decimate the ghetto inhabitants.
- Gestapo supervised the mass murdering of Jews in gas chambers
