Thanks for sending the emails. Say Hi to those that know me. Was thinking about the bed allocation and wondered if something along the following lines would work.  Of course, you may have already thought of it and I'm just wasting your time.  Anyway... 8pm (ish) allocation time on first come first served basis and guest is given one of those non-tearable paper wristbands like you get at events sometimes.  Non transferable and not easily lost unless cut. They could be colour coded or printed with dates for each night to avoid confusion. 8pm gives less time for the guest to change plans and leave the shelter. Guests are requested to 'check in' no later than 15 minutes before dorm doors are shut. If not there by that time, their bed is reallocated to the reserves. If they turn up on time the band is removed with scissors and if they leave the shelter after the deadline, their bed is gone. No band, no entry.
