When I have my own classroom and students I want to make sure that I am helping students see the fun in learning and help them grow that curiosity. Informational text can be some of the most interesting and best books to learn from. Students need to see the excitement modeled by their teachers and they need to be equipped with the knowledge and strategies to be successful readers.

Reading off of technology like an iPad is something that students are more willing to do since technology is so prevalent today. I want to make sure that my students have various outlets to find literature. I want to make sure that I have newspapers, iPads, books, online articles, etc. available for students to use and enjoy the process of reading and all of the critical thinking it entails.

When teachers show students ways to read text and how to dissect what is happening the students will be more engaged and willing to keep reading to see if what they think will happen actually happens. If this is informational text, the student may be bored or not know how to read it properly due to past teachers being negligent towards informational text and only using fiction.
