2.      Lock posts on padlet, to prevent moving around 
a.       Simple lock icon to lock posts
3.      Since collaboration may be among lots of people, that can include timeline of activities, so we know the sequence of posts
4.      Sharing padlet post on other social media platforms 
5.      Connecting to other platforms like skype

 

CSCL Environment – Edmudo 

Suggested Changes 

1.      Include a way of teachers knowing if students accessed the course material; attendance 
2.      No way of having a class in real-time on edmudo. You can upload videos, other programs like Skype would need to be used for classes
3.      Whiteboard attachment options, sometimes its easier to use a whiteboard to explain things, maybe it can be labelled “ Paper and Pen”

The Moodle website states that the steps required for getting Moodle up and running on a web server are very simple, but in practise this is not the case. There have been many problems that we have had to overcome, which required a technical understanding of the underlying technology and the way it all hangs together (Shearer, 2003);

  • Administration is difficult, confusing and not user friendly
  • It lacks appeal.
  • The simplistic user-interface appears dated.
  • The lack of structure is a challenge, especially for new users.
  • The raw interface makes the learning curve steep and creates a poor experience.
  • A Confusing User Interface- Students and administrators struggle to find their way around complex settings.
  • Lacks Reporting – Basic reporting yes, you can easily get it. But if you want to know which courses gets viewed the most, which course is the most popular, which is the course where learners fail the most, well you don’t have that.

Suggested Modifications

- Clearly defined Sidebars/Sections
- Color Coding for Improved Visual Appeal
- Configurable Widgets and Quick-Links for Easy Navigation
-Group Video Conferencing capabilities with Screen share and synchronous chat
- Collaborative content/document creation
