This was noted when everyone was questioning on her future profession as well marriage, of which she counters back with:

Undoubtedly, she said it without a second thought, putting her foot down. She defines as a feminism even if it was shameful for a woman to have such interest in the work field of men.

In the poem, it says:

It focuses on a black woman that's willing to stand up for herself and others, even if there's whole mob of people against her. Beneatha stands up for herself as she's very stubborn and will make sure that becoming a doctor will be a realty. Overall, this is about empowering black woman with the strength to not be afraid and to stay strong.

She was often looked upon and not appreciated as a person like from George, who only loves her for her looks rather her actual personalty or opinions. Her brother in the other hand, he does not approve of her desire to become a doctor and takes it as if its a simple childish interest.
“So crazy ‘bout messing ‘round with sick people—then go be a nurse like other women—or just get married and be quiet…”

This quote itself shows Walter underestimating Beneatha and  sexist views as he hinted that women are meant to be in support roles.

From this quote, you can infer that Beneatha wants to change the views on the stereotypes on gender roles, wanting to build a completely different image of women even if her ideals were sneered upon.
