Though obviously coming from a good place, this proposal perhaps creates a universal professional obligation without consideration for unusual situations where it is difficult or prohibitive to do so or exceptional circumstances that might prevent a teacher from doing it on any given day. Four at the Door is a good cultural touchstone, but it does not make for good policy.

At our last all-staff meeting, the Falcon Convention crew stood in front of the staff and stated that they are working on the Tier 1 interventions that we are missing. THIS is a Tier 1 intervention. If the Falcon Convention is working towards those interventions, this is a great start!

I agree with the comment below. I have 5 preps and need the time between classes to shift and set up. I try to greet students as they enter the classroom but it would be prohibitive if I could not use that 5 minutes to get things ready as needed.

I would agree with previous comments. "4 at the door" is a great strategy, but there are many successful strategies for connecting with students. I would hate to focus on one and ignore others. Staff should use a variety of strategies that work for them and their classes in an effort to create connections with all students.
