Even as progress was made a poor women may not have the same opportunity to reproductive care as a women from an upper-class family. This can be seen prominently when looking at the emergence of liberal feminism. This feminist theory primarily focused on the upper middle class white woman when it emerged.

Wade, reproductive rights and care have made huge progress compared to the access of previous generations. This is thanks to the movements throughout the 1960’s that pushed for women to have more control over their bodies. Reproductive rights is seen as the subject of the 4th wave of feminism, a movement believed to be taking place now in current events.

People often feels like they have the right to comment on the way a woman looks, this, amongst other factors, leads to the non-consensual sexualization of women. This is another method in which society conditions women. The ideal body image is a standard often made by men to appease men. Society tells women that if they do not adhere to this image than they are lacking and unattractive. Society also tells women that only attractive woman will have happy lives.

A woman not being attracted to men can be seen as one of the biggest offenses to society in the eyes of a lot of people.

Capitalism is the pursuit of making money. In Marxist feminism capitalism is believed to be the root cause of women's oppression. This theory states that capitalism thrives best when women are isolated in the private sphere. In this capacity women perform unpaid care labor by maintaining the house and raising the children. Capitalism benefits from this as women produce and rear the emerging workforce, absorb their husbands’ frustration from being exploited by capitalism, and are present as a cheap emergency workforce ready to step up should men ever go on strike.

When campaigning for suffrage in the South, campaigning white woman would attempt to appease these southern men by engaging in racist behaviors. The feminine mystique, a popular book that sparked many feminist conversations in the 1950s, solely credits Betty Freidan, a white woman, ignoring the contributions of Pauly Murry, a colored woman.

If you look back in history you will see that every society that had a form of government and participated in the subjugation of women would use the power of government to enact and enforce said subjugation. If you look back into the feudal era you can observe laws that prevented women from holding positions of power. Ancient Anatolia like many monarchies prohibited women from exerting ruling power.
