This can be seen prominently when looking at the emergence of liberal feminism. This feminist theory primarily focused on the upper middle class white woman when it emerged.

This is another method in which society conditions women. The ideal body image is a standard often made by men to appease men. Society tells women that if they do not adhere to this image than they are lacking and unattractive. Society also tells women that only attractive woman will have happy lives.

Capitalism benefits from this as women produce and rear the emerging workforce, absorb their husbands’ frustration from being exploited by capitalism, and are present as a cheap emergency workforce ready to step up should men ever go on strike.
