At the start of Act 3 Macbeth decides to kill Banqou:"The moment on ’t; for ’t must be done tonight,

And something from the palace; always thought

That I require a clearness. And with him—

To leave no rubs nor botches in the work—

Fleance, his son, that keeps him company,

Whose absence is no less material to me

Than is his father’s, must embrace the fate

Of that dark hour¨(Pg 120). This decision is made on his own he does not consult his wife or battle with his morals. He no longer has the self doubt he did before killing Duncan. Macbeth sees it as he has not finished he deed, until Banqou is dead. If Banqou is dead he believes that the thrown is safely his without suspicion. Macbeth even says that he will feel better with Banqou dead which is pure evil; ¨Who wear our health but sickly in his life,

Which in his death were perfect¨( Pg 118).

He plans and follows thru with the murder of Banqou. He does so without Lady Macbeth´s permission or consent. His wife is unaware of his plans. This shows that roles have switched and Macbeth is becoming as evil as his beloved wife. Macbeth also look to the witches for advisory of his acts who can be seen as much more evil than his wife. Not only is he looking to the witches for consent, he no longer trusts his wife or her judgment. Macbeth's actions are solely relying on a prophecy.

It is unclear is Banqous ghost shows up a dinner literally or if it is all in Macbeth´s head. This is not the first supernatural event that has occurred. The floating dagger, the witches, and Hecate are also super natural figures in the book. This figures are becoming more prominent as well as aggressive showing Macbeth´s and Lady Macbeth´s downward spiraling fate.

One of the first things that Macbeth say to Banqou´s ghost is: ¨Thou canst not say I did it: never shake. Thy glory locks at me¨ (Pg 136). The big problem here is it is shown that Macbeth is in denial of the evil he has committed. Obviously he was the reason Banqou is dead, even though he doesn´t directly have blood on his hands he is still guilty. Macbeth is having a hard time coming to terms with his ill fate.

Determination Moving Forward

Macbeth´s plan moving forward (which he also come up with alone) is to go talk to the witches, and see his fate now and what he should do. His last line in the act is him basically saying this gruesome adventure is just getting started. Also when he is talking to his wife he says; ¨All causes shall give away: I am in blood. Stepped in so far that, should I wade no more. Returning were tedious as go o´er: Strange things I have in head that will to hand, Which must be acted ere they may be scanned¨ (Pg 142, 144). Here Macbeth says he is already so deep in on his plans that it is easier to keep doing evil than to just stop. Macbeth plans to go full length to secure his tittle, fate, and what he thinks needs to be done for his well being.

King Edward foil to Macbeth

King Edward is the polar opposite of Macbeth. According to others in the act Macbeth has caused nothing but misery for Scotland. His evil is making people sick and causing people to die. While King Edward is curing his people with a touch and making their illness´s disappear. Edward is pure, unselfish, and true profit. Macbeth spreads the evil while King Edward cures it. Macbeth´s power is based on evil, this sharp contrast make Macbeth seem more evil. Macbeth is ruined by his ambition.
