I wanted to tell a story by pictures. I blocked everything out but the boat to have the feeling that she lived on a boat and I left some words visible so the black doesn't overwhelm the page. I accidentally got the background paint on the pages but I ended up liking it because it gives the feel as the ocean washing up on shore.

The top middle was a struggle because I didn't want the colours to blend, I wanted them to contract and make each other pop. I didn't want to make that character completely coloured in, so I used pen strokes to achieve that. When it comes to the sea creatures. I wanted the colours to stand out as well as the words with the blocked out phrases. I think it worked really well because it looks really nice and it's like the sun is beaming on these creatures to make them stand out.

The bottom left I wanted to convey the fact that she feels trapped in her own life and make the background not so solid. The bottom middle I wanted it to be like a gloomy day and her "father" is Poseidon and holds his spear out of the water. The bottom right I really like because the background really makes the blue hair stand out and the skeleton body really looks fasinating. I added bubble like shapes into the background to make it look like water.

What surprised me is how much the concept really came together and if I could do something differently was to rearrange the images and to change the whole concept of the bottom middle because it looks odd the way it's painted. It's like an eye soar that you really can't get off your mind.

Explain your original source and how you stylized or abstracted from that source.
My original source was from Pinterest and I kept the outline but I changed the tree layout/colors. I went with a lighter background to incorporate a simple night sky and I changed up the eye color as well as the fur on the neck.
Explain feedback you received during critique. Did you apply any feedback to your painting? Explain why or why not.
I was not in class on the day of the critique, so I wouldn't have feedback to consider applying to my art work.

What is your intended compositional area of emphasis? How did you add depth, contrast, and texture with second or third layers of materials?
The emphasis really lays with the forest area of the wolf.
I did a couple layers of watercolor. The background was a blend of black and purple and the trees were layered of different shades of blue and purple. Same with the wolf face, it was a mix of a light and dark grey. I went in after the watercolor and did a few touch-ups with color pencil. The tail has a bit of texture to it by dabbing on the watercolor.

Explain your projection choice – what does it suggest about your personality? How
It shows that I have a sweet personality because flowers show kindness, caring and etc.. The colors really pop which could also point to my crazy-talkative side.

It does add the meaning and I altered it by not sticking with one color but adding multiple colors and making the background a little abstract.

The photograph you worked from. How did the changes you made affected the visual outcome of the artwork?
I made the color change by working with more than one color and instead of the light orange as the background it has some pink, silver, white, blue, green, etc.. and mixed with a dark orange. I didn't follow the colors that the original picture maintained, I change a lot of the color and made my hair and skin a light color to get away from all the dark solid colors within the picture. I think it looks good but could be better.
