Sims is a highly controversial figure due to his methods of experimenting on enslaved black women, usually without anesthetic.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>George Papanicolaou revolutionized the treatment of cervical cancer with his creation of the pap smear. Through experimentation on guinea pigs, he was able to discern that secretions of those affected with cervical cancer differed from those that were cancer-free.&nbsp;With the help of his wife Andromache, he was able to refine this discovery and help develop what would later be known as the most reliable method of cervical cancer screening.</div>]]></description>
