Post-colonial theory pertains to imperialism which is dominating and control over another territory. This leads to the inhabitants fighting back but because they don’t have modern weapons and are only able to defend themselves with outdated weaponry such as bows and arrows or knives, they are easily over run and their lands are taken forcing them to work what used to be their own lands. Post-Colonial theory can also refer to how the colonizers meet the inhabitants without understanding and diplomacy of their language, religion, and beliefs so the inhabitants become enslaved. Colonizers are now forcing the inhabitants to evolve to their economic standards by demanding sources of raw materials, political views influencing the inhabitants enforcing new laws and removing customary ones that may have been used for hundreds of years, and re-shaping their culture imposing the colonizers' beliefs.

As an older Senior Airman joining at a later part of my life, I felt responsible for the younger airman coming to join our squadron. I was quickly put in a leadership role and deployed to a remote place in Afghanistan with the Army as an attachment. I was not only responsible for my Airman First Class that was with me but also in charge of an army squad that was given to me when we would go out on patrols or overnight watch on top of a operating post. I would have to wear different hats at for different situations. When we came into contact I with pilots  would have to wear an Air Force hat  and a troop commander's hat when speaking to my troops, ground commander and fire support hat when speaking to the fires team, and ensuring every soldier made it out safely and home to their families. I remember saying a prayer to God on April 30, 2016, that if anything were to happen to me to make sure he took care of family and if I were righteous to take me to heaven with Him and if that were not possible ,then I understood. I had too much to live for with my wife and boys waiting for me back home and I do believe He blessed me with nine lives, because I have had some real near-death encounters and always made it out unscathed.]]> 2019-04-17 00:06:05 UTC https://padlet.com/armandoalvaradojr/urvrqwk3d83b/wish/352159012 Application-Gladiator armandoalvaradojr https://padlet.com/armandoalvaradojr/urvrqwk3d83b/wish/352161775 The movie Gladiator, uses the themes of identity, oppression, and class. General Maximus who served under Cesar, was regarded highly by his men. He went from being a father, warrior, and the greatest General of all Rome to a slave and then rising in the coliseum as one of the best gladiators to live during his time. His family was brutally murdered on the word of Commodus for Maximus not showing his allegiance to him after the death of Cesar. Maximus must really on being honorable to fight off the threats within the coliseum and out. He was betrayed, held to the lowest of class, to praised as a god. Ultimately, he was able to take down the same person who put him there, the evil emperor Commodus. In the Ancient Roman times and today we have many similarities, such as the United States Congress called the Senate. How we view Washington D.C was just as ancient Rome, a capital. Our own government which represents the most powerful country in the world is an example of history repeating itself when we look at Rome.

At a young he age lost his parents and his girlfriend who he had just proposed to minutes prior to a terrorist attack on a beach while on vacation. The movie takes place in the United States in a remotely disclosed location in Virginia and also in the Middle East and Europe. Mitch Rapp, spends eighteen months trying to research these terrorist groups responsible for the attacks that day on the beach that took away the only thing he had that meant something to him. He was apprehended by the CIA who was on to him due to the high terrorist targets he had made communication with that the CIA themselves were unable to infiltrate. Race and identity are all present within the movie. Mitch is constantly interrogated by the CIA trying to break him to give up how he was able to infiltrate this terrorist cell and why he spent night and day thinking of him. Mitch had no one left in his life and did not care if he was killed in the process of him destroying the terrorist cell. He was eventually recruited by the CIA for his skills of being able to withhold information and the skills he had acquired along the way. He was taken to a disclosed location for training and mentoring with a former U.S. Navy S.E.A.L, Stan Hurley who was tough as nails. Mitch was constantly reminded that he had only himself to think of and the death of his fiance was constantly used against him to try and break him. He was thrown into situations where he had to forget who he was and blend in within other classes of Islamic groups as a friend and devastate them with brutal force along the way leaving a trail of bodies. In the end, being able to catch up with the head of the terrorist group and kill him brings him peace and he is able to lay his pain to rest and bring peace to the death of his one love.
