Russia’s major trades involve oil. Russia is the 10th largest export economy in the world. Russia has exported $449 billion and imported $295 billion making a positive trade balance of $154k (2014). Russia imports crude petroleum, petroleum gas, refined petroleum, coal briquette, raw aluminum, cars, vehicle parts, packaged medicaments, planes, helicopters, spacecrafts and computers. Russia’s top export countries are China, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, and Japan. Russia’s top imports are China, Germany, Italy, Belarus, and the United States.

There are many languages spoken in Russia today, including the most spoken language, Russian. These languages include but are not limited to Ukrainian, Chuvash, Bashir, Mordvin, Chechen and Tatar. There are almost 100 russian languages. 

        For Russia’s social media, they use VK.com, OK.ru, Moi Mir, Livejournal, and rutube. They have phone systems which include MTS, BeeLine, MegaFon, Tele2Russia and Skylink. MTS, MegaFon and Beeline are nationwide covered operators, but Tele2Russia is still expanding. So it’s services are only in a few regions.

   In Moscow, Russia's capital, the temperature can range from in hotter months being around 65 degrees fahrenheit and in colder months  can drop to approximately 18 degrees. Their hottest month is July, when the temperature can go up to about 65 degrees fahrenheit. The coldest month there is January, when the temperature drops to 18 degrees fahrenheit. In Russia, the month of September is when they get the most sunlight, which can average up to 12 hours of sunshine daily. Russia's climate is different than our climate, because over here when it is 65 degrees, it is usually late fall or early spring. In Russia, this climate is considered hot weather. When it's 18 degrees here in New York, it is considered very cold.

Russia has over 100,000 rivers including Volga, Dnieper, Lena and Ob. 

This enormous country has a tundra stretching 4,349 miles which  is located in Russian Arctic. This part of Russia is well known for the white nights. It is very treeless and marshy.
   Twenty five million years old, Lake Baikal is located in Siberia, Russia. Not only being the oldest and deepest lake in the world, it also makes up “20% of the world’s fresh water”, says Touropia’s article 10 Top Tourist Attractions in Russia. 

The famous Ural Mountains that split Russia into two parts are located on the border of Asia and Europe, making Russia the only country located in two continents. The people living near the mountains have a few beliefs. One of the beliefs is that a Uralian tribe, that used to live near the mountains titled the mountains. Another belief is that the word came from an origin word from Turkic, which means stone made belt. 
Formed late in the carboniferous period the Ural Mountains are 300 million years old. The mountains include a diverse option of minerals such as: coal, gold, platinum, iron, nickel, and silver. The Ural Mountains are very interesting, being part tundra and part treeless land.

The Brosno Lake is quite popular. Many people that live near the lake, in Andreapol, have a several beliefs. Some believe that a dragon lives in the lake, another, that there is an active volcano under the water bed, or that there is a snake with one eye in the lake. In the 18th century, people believed that the dragon did a lot of turbulence and did not allow the villagers to get water. Even with a possible dragon in the water, there is diverse quantity of marine life living in the lake.

   Topozero Lake is located in the Republic of Karelia and is one of the biggest freshwater lakes.The total area of the lake is 986 square kilometers and it is 30.3 kilometers wide and 75.3 kilometers is its length. The lake like any other lake is used for fishing and timber related activities.

     The Volga is the most important river in Russia. Not only is it the longest river in Europe, but “Volga is also the cradle of Russian civilization” says Main Rivers in Russia, USA Today. The length of the river is as wide as USA. When there are cruises that are on Volga river they spend more time on it than any other rivers in Russia

.    The Ladoga Lake is the second largest in Russia. Located in the Republic of Karelia, like Topozero Lake, it is 130 kilometers wide and 210 kilometers long. The lake is very diverse and has a rocky shore in the north and a very shallow shore in the south.

 Discovered in 1941 by a scientist, Tatyana Ustinova, the Valley of Geysers is located in the Kamchatka peninsula. Being the second largest in the world it is a very popular attraction where mostly scientists and tourists come to.

 Last, but not least, is Mount Elbrus, located in the Caucasus Mountain Range. This mountain attracts a lot of mountain-climbers because of its height of 5,642 meters. This can be scary because the mountain used to be a volcano, but don’t be scared because there were no eruptions.

Eastern Russia and western Russia are very diverse.Western Russia has a lot of different cities that are well developed, and Eastern Russia is not well developed and only has a few villages where people live. That is why when people come to visit Russia they usually go to western Russia to see their gorgeous architecture and visit eastern Russia when they want to explore nature.
Saint Basil’s Cathedral is located in Moscow, and is one of the biggest attraction in Russia. It was built between 1554 and 1561 and is not popular because of its beauty on the inside, but it is popular because of its outside. The building represents a bonfire in a full flame.

The Hermitage Museum is an enormous museum located in Saint Petersburg. It is a museum full of art and culture with 3 million different elements.  Catherine the Great ordered the construction of the Winter Palace which became the Hermitage Museum.

The Moscow Kremlin covers 250 acres and has four cathedrals and a few museums inside it. If you go to Moscow you have to see the Moscow Kremlin and see the jewelry exhibit which includes a 190-carat diamond that was given to Catherine the Great.

St. Sophia cathedral is one of the cathedrals standing in the Moscow Kremlin and is 25 feet tall. It is the oldest church in Russia and has ancient religious artifacts like the Mother of God of the Sign.
     Russia is a very vast and diverse country which offers a lot of different physical and human characteristics.

     Russia’s official language is, of course, Russian. Most of Europe speaks Russian because of the country’s large size though Russia belongs to both Europe and Asia.  Russia faces economic and political issues. An example of an economical issue that Russia faces is trade.  A flaw in Russian trade could be that Russia is unable to trade freely. Unlike the United States, Russia is not included in agreements like NAFTA. Therefore cannot trade freely as the acronym may suggest. However, some politicians believe that NAFTA was a bad idea and that Russian trade does not have this flaw. The government can be concerned about this issue, making it a political issue. This impacts the region because it affects what resources they have. For example, someone in Siberia trades oil with someone in Mongolia. This affects the amount of oil in Siberia

 Russia has mountainous, tundra, and desert land, as the map suggests, whether in the north of Russia, where it is cold, or the south, home to mountains, or in the southwest, which houses deserts. 
 Russia is home to over 140 million people and the population increases each year. The map at the top displays Russia’s population through the independent states.
