After learning about beekeeping I have found a relation between "Stung" by Bethany Wiggins. Beekeepers keep the whole bee world functioning. Without them, the population of bees would collapse just as it did in "Stung". Bees pollinate the plants which provide food for animals which provide food for us and without that the world will go through a crisis.

The beekeeping industry is most highly developed in many countries. They sell honey and beeswax. When producing about 200 million pounds of honey every year, bakers buy lots of it to make crackers, cookies and other baked goods. Companies also buy beeswax to make candles, lipsticks, polishes and other products.

A standard hive is the most commonly used by beekeepers. A standard hive includes several removable drawer like supers, or sections. Bees build their honey combs inside the supers on movable frames. Bees can pass through this bee space to all parts of the hive, and the beekeeper can move the frames around. Generally, each super holds 10 combs or frames.

Bees senses are adapted to signals from flowers using color preferably yellow and blue, not being able to see red, and scent. They smell with their antenna. Proboscis is what bees use to suck up nectar which they store in their honey stomach. Bees pick up pollen as they fly by as it sticks to the hairs on the bees. When the bee finds a good source of food, it shares with the others by dancing. They stay with the same productive plant species until it stops growing. They also recruit other bees in their community to fly to the chosen food sources using their dances and other assistance in the field.

Honey is a sweet thick fluid made by bees from nectar. Worker bees sip nectar from flower blossoms, carry it to their hives, then they share it with other worker bees there. Each bee has a pouch in her body (honey stomach) where the nectar is stored. In the pouch bees produce enzymes, molecules that speed chemical reaction, that mix with the nectar. Then inversion during the sugar in the nectar breaks down into fructose and glucose. Bees use their mouths to expose the nectar to the air. Once the water evaporates and it is less than 19% water by weight, the nectar becomes honey.
