The After School Adventure Club Starter Kit is a digital resource toolkit designed to support middle and high school students in starting their own outdoor after school club.

Why outdoor clubs?
There is a large body of research supporting the relationship between contact with nature and the mental, physical, and social/emotional health of young people.

In 2021, Washington State Governor Inslee declared a health emergency and put student mental health at the center of school reopening efforts.

Currently, public school students are mandated only 20-30 minutes of recreational time during the school day. After school sports and clubs are key for engaging students in physical activity and time outdoors.

Student-led clubs provide an alternative to traditional school sports (like football or baseball) that are not accessible, affordable, or interesting to all students.

Solutions
There are many organizations working to create equitable outdoor access for youth. There is not currently a comprehensive guide for students to start their own club.

Inspirations
I am inspired by resources provided by organizations like the After School Alliance, YETI, North Cascade Institute, YMCA, and many others.

Potential Partners
Through my connection with Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), United General District 304 Community Foundation and other local organizations, I have potential support for developing, funding, marketing, and distributing my toolkit.

DíaLife is a health companion mobile application that serves the audience with diabetes. DíaLife centers on not being a usual cold health management application but positions itself as an assistant and a mentor for the journey of individuals with diabetes. We know that diabetes is a sensitive and delicate journey and we want to be viewed as not another health-tracking application but as a companion to those who want that second hand in their journey. The mobile application contains the necessities such as Blood Glucose Level and Continuous Glucose Monitor tracking, medication management, and any data tracking available. The secret sauce of the application is the emotional design elements such as personalized tips and encouraging phrases that would be used to improve the mood of the user. Users can also have management and assistance with their meals by providing a feature that will provide personalized recommendations based on specific items that they wish to input and if none are satisfied, users can “shake” their device and new recommendations will appear. Approximately 50% of students in rural areas have limited access to online classes, and one-third of those students have no access to remote learning at all. China Alliance for Educational Excellence is a non-profit organization founded in April 2006 by people from different backgrounds who voluntarily support the education of youth in rural areas. I plan to serve in this community in the future and attend their yearly events to contribute to education in rural and poverty areas in the future. Serving in this community, I would also like to pitch a project called “Village2World” which can help students get out of the small village to see the beautiful world. By providing access to education and opportunities for these students, they can explore the big and beautiful world. I believe this project will empower these students to pursue their dreams as well as help build their hometowns.

My area of impact is increasing minority representation on social media. This "Global Village" that I propose can be an extension of MyUW, no new platform required, and this way all students are already a part of it regardless of department or background. I'm inspired by the power of collaboration and the power of asking, because people care to help if we know whom to ask. 'The who' is the most difficult part of finding the right opportunities for oneself, which is where I hope this platform will bridge the gap between a platform that is merely announcement oriented such as Handshake, versus the abstractness of social media or our email systems in terms of finding contacts. I am looking forward to solving problems faced by immigrants in the United
States. Immigrants face the challenges of language barrier, which makes it challenging
to communicate effectively in their daily lives thus facing hardships to adjust in the
American society.
Also there are cultural differences across the different nationalities and within the United
States. Immigrants and the American Nationals are not aware of the differences. As a
result immigrants feel disconnected from their community and feel isolated. Away from
their family and friends makes it difficult to adapt easily.
Limited access to resources due to language barriers makes them stay away from the
opportunities that can bring betterment to their lives.

As technology develops rapidly and drastically, people are slowly losing the capability to read. This doesn’t mean people are becoming illiterate, it simply means more and more people lose interest in reading and feel like it’s unnecessary to read since most of the information or news can be obtain through media platforms. Seattle was designated a UNESCO City of Literature. We shouldn't let this title go to waste. I would like to dedicate this project to the youth in Seattle. I worry that children that failed to cultivate healthy hobbies such as reading are likely to be addicted to gadgets, which later results in damages to their brain development.
