It was believed that the men who basically claimed to be straight in front of everyone else really was hiding being homosexual in which in the time frame of the 70s it was seen as almost a sin. Some of the participants were given the roles guard and some were given the role inmate and they acted as such and this included strip searches arrests and everything else a Norma jail would have to offer.
