The purpose of this text is to give students direction when reading. This piece of text is something that is useful for students at most developmental stages. Most fourth graders will be able to read the words presented in this setup and if not, it could be read to them as reminders. The reminders are important for readers at any level and give a guideline as to what readers should be doing. This is visible from most seats in the class and lies behind the guided reading table where it can be referenced. The teacher created this resource on her own and was creative to make it more engaging and enjoyable.

The leveled books in this classroom are public and organized based on the groups that they meet in. There is a wide variety within each bin that allows for students to choose books that they are interested in. There is also access to leveled books on their laptops but I was not able to get a photo of these. Within the leveled texts I did not see many texts that were culturally diverse but the genres were diverse. The texts were mostly English but the class does not have any students who speak another language, although, there are students in their grade who do. The text's purpose is to further their reading skills and provide them with the resource to do so.

This is a large display in the class titled "human rights". It features many icons who fought for human rights or were successful regardless of the discrimination holding them back. This is a display for black history month and includes vocabulary that they are learning about. The text is physically accessible to all students in the class and also developmentally accessible. The text is informational and engaging to students. The display reflects the diversity of the classroom and the school, but is something that should be incorporated regardless of the schools population.

The class does a lot of their work on paper. Most of the time the worksheets include visuals that make them accessible for many different learners. The students in her class largely vary in their reading levels and the worksheets accommodate that. Almost all work that is done in the class includes a worksheet.

The teacher has a large library of books that would be considered "tradebooks". Not pictured is a shelf of books that are not chapter books and bins with different genres. There is a wide range of books to suit the needs of many students in the classroom. A lot of the books in the library are a bit older but that does not mean they are not relevant, they could improve with diversity regarding culture and language though. The text is meant to provide information and build reading skills and the love of reading. These books are available to everyone in the class!

In the classroom, students are given a job each morning. They can earn money that buys them certain privileges throughout the day. Not pictured is another management chart for lunchtime, if they do a good job following rules they sign a cupcake until it is filled, leading to a cupcake party. These texts are displayed where everyone can see them and match where all kids in the room are developmentally. The teacher created these materials herself to cater to what would work for her students. These texts are designed to give directions and manage the group so that the best learning is happening.

Pictures is a section on the walls where student work is posted for the whole class to see. This is not limited to only students who are at a high level, if any student is trying their hardest they can be put on the board. These texts reflect diversity as everyone is different and can be displayed regardless of differences. The purpose of this is to give the class a chance to be proud of their work and set an example for the community.

The class has access to Scholastic News articles. These articles are sent in one level per grade so they are not developmentally accessible for students who are reading below grade level. The texts are available to every student and given to them to keep once the lesson is over. I did not see these in another language but the class does not have any bilingual students, they may be available in other languages. This text is imported and not locally made. They are provided to inform students on many different topics and they are often themed on holidays or current events.

I was not able to take a photo of a student's computer but a text that is a big part of their school day is I-Ready. This program is accessible in many ways; it works with the student to stay at their reading/math level, can be changed to Spanish, and provides visuals for students who learn best visually. I-Ready is created outside of the school and used around the country so it is not specific to the students are exactly what they are learning. It is a tool to give instruction and enrich students with work at the pace they need. Students I-Ready is personal and not shared with other students but is used for faculty to progress monitor.
