In the past, Christmas (was celebrated) mainly with religious ceremonies, and gifts (were given) only to children. With time, it (was transformed) into a cultural event that connects spirituality, music, and community. Through this celebration, I have learned that family, gratitude, and unity (are valued) in every culture.

Artificial Intelligence tools such as ChatGPT and Canva (were used) to organize ideas and design the image that represents this story. They helped me reflect on how traditions and technology can be joined to share cultural identity.

One of the most important traditions is the Día de las Velitas. Candles are lit on the night of December 7th to honor the Virgin Mary. Streets, houses, and parks are decorated with lights and lanterns. Songs are sung, and prayers are shared among families. There’s also a popular phrase here in Colombia “Desde septiembre se siente que viene diciembre” that reinforces the expectation for christmas.

In the past, many traditions were created and passed down from generation to generation.  Nativity scenes were built by hand in every household. Christmas carols and tropical songs were sung in the streets by neighbors. Traditional dishes like buñuelos and natilla were prepared by grandmothers with love.

This tradition has shaped my identity because it reminds me of the importance of family unity and cultural roots. Through Christmas, I have learned that values like sharing and gratitude are celebrated not only in Colombia but also in many other cultures.
