Throughout the unit students will engage with various argumentative texts written by human rights activists who discuss what freedom looks and feels like for survivors of state sanctioned violence. By the end of the unit, students will have the opportunity to write and deliver an argumentative essay and speech about what freedom means to them.

My big picture take away from Unit 4 for English I is a big focus on comprehension and response skills for students in listening , speaking, reading, writing and thinking for multiple texts. Also, there is a focus on students being able to identify author's purpose and craft.
