My dogs

These are my dogs, Rocco (left) and Maggie (right). Rocco is six years old and Maggie is just one. They’re very stubborn, as they constantly fight each other for the squirrel chew toy. Maggie especially loves to dig holes in the backyard, ruining the perfectly cut grass every time. Nevertheless, I love both of my dogs to the moon and back.

The Miami Heat

I’m a huge Miami Heat fan, as in the year 2024, we have 3 titles and 6 Finals appearances to our name, led by Jimmy Butler. I’ve been through the highest of highs and lowest of lows with this team, suffering some very painful losses. Despite all that, I will still support the Heat until the end of my life, and will remain a loyal Heat fan.

Food

One of the things I most love is food, as I never stop eating. I love to try new and different types of food, especially traveling to new cultures and trying traditional foods. As of Friday, April 26th, 2024, my favorite food happens to be traditional Colombian and Peruvian food. The blends of spice, sweet, sour, and every other taste makes for two great food cultures.

I love to travel and learn about new cultures. I’ve been on multiple trips to Europe, and I’ve come to love it. The rich history and sights to see are one-of-a-kind and amaze me.

I absolutely love music. My spotify playlist is 70 HOURS 😭😭. I mainly enjoy rap music and reggaeton music, along with the subgenres that come along with it. Some of my favorite artists include J. Cole, A$AP Rocky, Tyler the Creator, Kanye West, Jay Z, Bad Bunny, Ken Carson, among others. I specifically enjoy lyrical rap, by artists like J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar who talk about how to improve our world and the flaws we have, instead of drugs, money, and violence like other rappers talk about.

Soccer

I’m from Colombia, and there we live and breathe soccer. I’m a dedicated Atletico Nacional fan, a soccer team from the Medellin region of Colombia. My family is divided every time these teams play, as my dad and I are the only Atletico Nacional fans, while everyone else are Millonarios fans. I play soccer too, as I’m trying to get on the school team next year.

As of now, the Israel-Iran conflict is very much still alive, as well as the Russia-Ukraine war. Ukraine has responded pretty well to Russia, although they are still outnumbered. Due to the Ukrainian military tactics and strategy, they’ve managed to hold their own against one of the world’s powers.

Real Madrid

Since the day I was born, I put on a Real Madrid jersey (soccer team from Spain). I don’t really know how my family came to support Madrid, but we ended up doing so. As of the day I wrote this, today is the first leg of the semifinal of the Champions League vs. Bayern Munich (2024). We just beat Manchester City on penalties and the belief and confidence is high.

President Joe Biden and Donald Trump are locked into a difficult election that will likely come down to very little votes. Both politicians have support throughout the country, so it will be interesting to see who wins.

As I’m going into high school, my grades haven’t been the best. I’m doing my best to improve them, and hopefully I’ll do better in high school. Middle school has been a great experience, as I’ve learned to have responsibility for my assignments and had a lot of freedom. The freedom has been great, an improvement from lower school. My teachers have been great, as so far my favorites have been Mrs. Major (8th grade Composition and Grammar) and Mrs. Tacher (8th grade Literature). I hope to do better in high school and beyond, so I can set myself up for a successful future.

Playing basketball for the school team isn’t easy. I started this journey in 6th grade, as a weak kid who could only shoot the ball. As expected, I didn’t make the team. The next year, I tried again, but failed. I lacked defensive ability (according to my coach). Finally, this year I tried again, and made it. I got to play under the lights on Friday nights in front of friends and family, against fierce competitors. It was a feeling like no other.

Summary (from dad’s perspective): As a doctor, the pandemic was very tough for me. I had to work countless hours on end without stopping, seeing patients infected to the point where the hospital doors overflowed with people. I kept persevering through this, but it was unlike anything i’ve ever experienced in 14 years of being a doctor.

In terms of technological advances, the AI stuff is getting out of hand. It can be used for a lot of good, but also terrible things if in the wrong hands. I hope we can come together to fix the AI things before it gets out of hand.

Summary (mom’s perspective): I think the world is in a very bad position right now, politically. Countries are going to war like it’s any normal occurrence, putting millions of innocent people in the middle of it. Political leaders need to come together and stop this hatred, and think with their heads for the sake of the millions of innocent lives in danger.

In terms of technological advances, the progress in medicine has been huge for me, especially since I own a business. As a nurse practitioner, advances in Telemedicine has allowed my business to grow beyond the doctor’s office and into people’s homes. This versatility has been incredible for my business, as more and more patients are coming in to receive anti-aging treatment (among others).
