Progress: in 2006 the space craft launched from Cape Canaveral. In 2007 it received a gravity assist from Jupiter, and picked up data on the planet and its moons. In 2015 New Horizons reached Pluto and began its study of Pluto and its moons. 

The future: the spacecraft will be directed toward the Kuiper Belt Objects beyond Pluto for further research.
