Mohammed Reza Pahlavi Shah came in to power in September 1941. His father rein was over and it was Mohammad turn. Mohammed came to power because his father was forced to leave the throne. Reza shah was getting pressured by the British and Soviet governments.

5.Mohammad Reza Shah exile caused problems. Since shah went to the U.S.,

Iranians were angry and feared he might return. So, Iranian students took over the U.S. Embassy and held 52 Americans as hostages wanting Shah's return.

The Mohamed Reza Pahlavi was officially removed from his position on January 17, 1979. He lost power after the Iranian revolution in which the people of Iran were outraged over the rule of the Shah. They felt that he was not ruling Iran the way it was meant to be ran so they drove him out.
Islamic Fundamentalists decided that Iran needed to implement religion into the government. They felt that Islamic law was to be installed and typical restrictions and strict prohibition over secular ideology.
After the reign of the Shah, the Islamic fundamentalists decided the Ayatollah to take over the position. Ayatollah Khomeini was officially Irans ruler on February 1, 1979.
