I learned that the Everglades is decreasing in size rapidly, and it could possibly be gone in 50 years if don't put more money into preserving this beautiful nation park. In the article above, Everglades Advocates are getting the Federal Government to help pay for the 2 billion Central Everglades Plan.  <br><br></div>]]></description>

One turtle(the one in the back) will never be able to be released into the wild because its shell has air trapped in it, therefore it isn't able to go underwater/swim properly. <br>This photograph was taken at the in Marathon, FL at the Turtle Hospital. <br>This photograph is important because it shows that we preserving endangered species. </div>]]></description>

The CWA is important because it prevents people from polluting water.          <title>Invasive Species </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<h1><strong>Argentine black and white tegu</strong></h1><div><strong>Description: </strong>Large black and white lizard. Males can reach up to 4 1/2 feet and females reach up to 3 feet. They have beaded skin with a black and white pattern that consists of stripes and dots. <br><strong>Native Range: </strong>The Argentine black and white tegu is native to South America, specifically Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina.<strong><br>Arrival in Florida: </strong>The first Tegu's found in the wild were found in 2005. It is believed that they escaped or released as unwanted pets. <strong><br>Impact: </strong>Tegus compete with and prey on native species that live in Florida. Some may be endangered. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Ecological Footprint</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>An ecological footprint is the impact we leave on the earth by eating processed foods, using power and water, and producing pollution. If everyone lived the lifestyle I lived, it would take 5.1 earths to support it. It takes 22.6 global acres to support my lifestyle as well. In order to reduce the amount of land I use to support my lifestyle, I could try to consume less meat.  <br>An example of the effect our ecological footprint has on the earth is urbanization. As cities expand, they destroy land and habitats such as the everglades. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>The Florida Manatee <br>(</strong><em>richechus manatus latirostris</em>), a subspecies of the West Indian manatee. <br><strong>Size: </strong>Calves reach 40-60 pounds and adults can grow up to 800-1,200 pounds.<br><strong>Diet: </strong>Manatees eat around 32 pounds of aquatic plants each day. <br><strong>Habitat: </strong>They prefer shallow slow moving water such as estuaries, bays, and canals. <br><strong>Communication: </strong>Manatees communicate through touch and vocalizations that sound like squeals or squeaks. <br><strong>Conservation Status: </strong>They are currently protected under the Marine Mammal Protection act. This act prevents the hunting or taking of any marine mammal. <strong><br></strong><br></div>]]></description>
