  • I have a ‘Record of Phone Call’ form beside my phone and if I am having a conversation with parents, I let them know that I will be taking notes to help me remember the information accurately. The notes then either go into a secure student file, or depending on the importance of the information, may get used for the intended purpose and then shredded.

  • Sometimes, there are old files that are no longer needed for filing. It should be placed through a shredder instead of in a recycling bin as students and others may still have access to it.

In this situation, I would approach the teacher and diplomatically point out the breach of ethics/privacy.
