How is representative government practiced in the United States today?

In America we have a Representative Government. We practice that by voting for representatives that have the same views as we do to be in the senate and make decisions for us and influence the President which we also vote for to help our country and make things better with foreign countries and trade as well as internal affairs between states and people. Our government is also split into 3 branches so that not too much power is given to one part of it so they all have the same amount of power and control which balances it out.
