Catching "handshakes" is incredibly simple using free software and cheap devices such as raspberry pi. This gives the attacker a chance to catch your hash and use software such as hashcat or jack the ripper to brute force it externally. Also, as seen with PwC, leaving physical devices is a recipe for disaster. In the wrong hands it will take only minutes to remove network capabilities and the companies access to wipe the drive remotely. 

To be concise: NEVER do work for the company on a network or in a place that ANYONE can connect to.

Also changing passwords after a certain timeframe to avoid compromise of security. Employees should also be advised to use multi-factor authentication. And, employees have to be cautious enough to identify suspicious emails and avoided clicking on unauthorized links to avoid phishing attacks and report them. Not only does the employee needs to be vigilant about the above ones, but also ensures the physical security of the company-provided devices. Also, any client-specific or confidential information related to the company should not be shared with non-employees. As an employee of the company, it is our due responsibility to guard the information of the organization. By following the above practices we can ensure the security of the sensitive data.

I tell me family this a lot, but if you get texted or emailed a link, just go to your browser and type in the actual URL you know is your login location.
