Emmett Chappelle was born on October 24, 1925. He was a scientist and inventor that worked for NASA for many years. He had many inventions from that are related with medicine, food science, and biochemistry. Chappelle was the first person to identify the chemical composition of bioluminescence. Another thing he did was that he found out how to determine the number of bacteria in water by the amount of light given off by that bacteria.

Even at a young age Katherine seemed to have a knack for school as she even graduated college at 18, the time most just enter college. She went on to become a mathemetician for NASA. At NASA she played a major role as she calculated the trajectory for Alan Shepard, the first ever American in Space. Even after computers started to get used for calculations she was still asked to recheck them for safe measure.
