(i.e. that's okay they don't need to do that... or why are you doing that with them? "I am not a SpEd teacher" or "I did not go to school to be a SpEd teacher". This language allows the GE teachers to separate themselves from supporting the students and shifts the responsibility to the collab teacher. When I hear these things said, it feels like the teachers are using SpEd as if it were a dirty word, that there is some wrong/very different (in a bad way) than General Education teachers. The SpEd collab teachers should be provide classroom wall space to create an "about me" along side the GE teachers. This allows for parents and students to visually see that both teachers are equal and that this is both teachers' classroom.
