I always knew how corrupt the North Korean government was, however, I did not realize how much of an impact it had on people's health. I thought that despite being a closed off, isolated country, North Korea's healthcare system was still somewhat developed. North Koreans do have access to universal healthcare, which truly shows that if your environment isn't right, your body will react to it. 

The second piece of data that stood out was the total executed and the total sentenced to death. These two sound very similar, however North Korea executed 105 people whereas South Korea 0. Despite that, South Korea sentenced to death 11 people but North Korea sentenced 0. The play on words is interesting since both of these essentially mean death. However, we do know how corrupt the North Korean government is, therefore we do not know the true intent behind these executions. For South Korea's case, I believe it was most likely done to punish a crime. 

The third piece of data that stood out was the amount of CO2 emissions. It makes sense that North Korea produces less pollution than South Korea since it is less developed and populated. I am still surprised at the difference between both countries. I was never aware of the fact that one could measure the amount of corruption in country and present the information in number form. It's no surprise that North Korea is more than three times higher on the ranking list than South Korea. North Korea is a notoriously unsafe and repressive country with a terrible dictator as a leader.

The second piece of data that stood out was the military expenditure and the military spending.  North Korea spends more than a fifth of their GDP on their military while South Korea only spends 2.8% of theirs. Despite this, South Korea invests $26billion, making the $8billion North Korea spends seem like a small amount. This is because South Korea's GDP is so much higher than North Korea's. When taking this fact into consideration, the data becomes much more comprehendible.

3. The third piece of data that stood out was the comparison of the Net official development assistance (ODA) and official aid between the two countries. South Korea is a wealthy country, so it is able to send out $69 million to countries in need. On the other hand, North Korea needs assistance from rich nations, it receives almost $80 million in aid. This shows the clear difference between the two countries' economies.

You can see that North Korea has 0% of unemployment while South Korea has 3.8%. This says a lot about North Korea's policy as I am guessing they force everyone to work no matter what. We also see that almost half the population is in the military which probably explains why there is no unemployment.

2. Another piece of data that stood out to me is the total executed. In 5 years, 105 people were executed. I honestly thought it would be more because of all the stories we hear on the news of people trying to escape and getting killed. This shows that the North Koreans are just way too scared to even try to cross the border anymore. In south Korea, 11 people were sentenced to death, but that means that they were punished for a crime so the killing was "justified". On the other hand in the North, none of the killings were classified in the "execution"category. 

3. The last piece of date that stood out to me was the infant mortality rate. I actually thought that the healthcare system would be really good and advanced. All this lack of freedom they could've at least ensured a long healthy life for their citizen. From this information only, we can tell just how terrible the living environment in North Korea is. This also goes hand in hand with the life expectancy at about 10 years younger than the average South Korean. There are probably not many health or education facilities either, and residential locations don't look like they can support much either.

2. The second piece of data that stood out to me was the total executed from 2007 to 2011. In comparison to South Korea's data, which is 0, it looks enormous. Although frankly, I thought it'd be much larger than that, probably going over thousands. However, these numbers are inaccurate, as stated by the article, so it definitely isn't solid and will most likely be greater than 105. 

3. The final piece of data that stood out to me was the unemployment rate. It's literally blank. I'm assuming there was little to no information to use about this, or they are strictly not allowed to present these numbers. Based on the current country's state and financial/economical statistics, I'd presume that the unemployment rate would be significantly high. That or a large portion of the country is engaged in cheap/forced labor, with minimal or no pay. I was shocked when I saw that number because it is mentioned that South Korea is the 50th place around the world, while North Korea is ranked as the 178th over 180 countries worldwide. This shows how strict it is and also, how little freedom they had in 2013.

3. The third piece of data that stood out was the internet users per 100 people. We can easily see that there is a huge difference between these two countries. I am not surprised at all because this is a similar example to the freedom index ranking. Finally, there is less than 0.1 % over 100 people that use the internet in North Korea, while in the South there is about 81.5 % over 100 that use it as well.

1. The first piece of data that stood out was infant mortality. I was shocked to see that the rates were that high for North Korea. Since it’s a closed country I expected it to at least take care of their younger generation. I think that they are already struggling with their economy because they have to make everything, from food to clothes to even electricity. Not having a young population will just make things worst for North Korea.

2. The second piece of data that stood out was South Korea’s active duty. I thought more citizens were involved in the army since they got many threats from North Korea. Considering that South Korea has a law that obliges every male citizen to join the army for at least 1 year. However, I don’t think that it will be necessary because north Korea and South Korea are possibly reuniting.

3. The third piece of data that stood out was internet users because internet is what shapes our modern world. Seeing that the rates are extremely low in North Korea shocked me. With some research I found out that the internet was banned in north korea. Which makes sense now since they isolated themselves from the world.

This is because North Korea forces all of its citizens to work. Another reason is that in North Korea citizens are forced to do 10 years of military service, which means that all people in their 20s are in the military and are having a job.

2. The second piece of data that stood out to me was the life expectancy In both these countries. We can see that in North Korea the life expectancy is about 69 years which is very low compared to their neighbours. In South Korea the life expectancy is much higher, it is about 79 years. This can be explained because of South Koreas effective health care system, while in North Korea  they don't import any medical materials, because it's a closed country and that could explain their low life expectancy.

3. The third piece of data that stood out to me was the internet users in both these countries. In South Korea there are 81.5 internet users per 100 people, while in North Korea the number is much lower. There are only 0.1 internet users per 100 people, We can clearly see that people in South Korea people use the internet much more that in the North. That could be explained due to the internet being banned in North Korea, only privileged people get to access it.

The first date that stood out was the life expectancy. As it's about 79.3 years old in South Korea and only 69 years old in North Koreas. However, they are descendants of the same investors, so why is their life expectancy so different. Yet, in the video, we remark that most of the population lives under good circumstances. Therefore their life expectancy should be higher. 

2. The second piece of data that stood out was the infant mortality rate. The rates are drastically high for North Korea. It is their future generation that we are talking about, so they need to take care of them. I believe that the lack of resources, food, and access to a better health care system is killing the majority of their future generation. Therefore they need to find a solution before their population decreases drastically. Plus a decreasing population comes with its problems and major consequences. 

3. The third and last piece of data that stood out was the unemployment rate. In North Korea, there is no information presented. Maybe because of their poverty rate they feel the need to keep the information private till the find a solution. Or they simply have 0 unemployment, which is impossible to believe. However, in South Korea, it's at 3.8 percent which is decent judging from the conditions they live in.

The first data that was interesting to me is the population rate. In fact, South Korea has double the amount of people compare to North Korea. Potential reason might be due to how special NK is. 

The second data is about the  GDP per capita. Well, it's pretty obvious that South Koreans generates more wealth because they live in a capitalist country and a free market system.  North Koreans on the other hand have limited resources and freedom.

Lastly, the infant mortality rate was pretty high in North Korea. The rate was 6 times higher comparing to South Korea. The reason why this data in particular shocked me is that as far as I acknowledge, North Korea are stricter, more dictatorial, and tougher than South Korea when it comes to the security measures and police forces. Despite these awesome security traits, there were 3,658 homicides per 100,000 population in North Korea, compared to an amazingly lower homicide count per 100,000 population of 1,251 in South Korea.

This is because North Korea has 3.1 metric tons per capita of Carbon Dioxide, while South Korea has an overwhelming 10.4 metric tons per capita of Carbon Dioxide. 1. The first data that stood out to me was the population of countries. South Korea is nearly the double of North Korea which I didn't know before. I potential reason for that could be that people would prefer living in South Korea instead of North Korea due to the higher amount of freedom.

It is well know that North Korea is a closed country to the world and that it doesn't have the same technologies as the other countries, however, the gaps between it and South Korea was too high and unexpectable. But as we must know, South Korea is very advanced in medical progresses while North Korea has to work on its health system more.

Also that North Korea has no one sentenced to death but there were 105 people that were executed. Which makes me think that people don’t have a fair trial and that they can't defend themselves.

Going back to the video that we watched today, we can see that almost everyone in North Korea works but that’s what they made us see. Also that all the workers are being controlled and that some of them have to be virgins and not married so they can work because they live in the work environment. But it is not shocking that just 3.8 percent of people in North Korea because that is not a lot.

3. The third piece of data that stood out was the life expectancy. I thought that North Korea would have people that would live longer because they tell them what not to eat because it brings cancer and other diseases. As it is shown in the video, they put a paper on the wall for them to see if they eat that with that it is bad because it will make you fat, cancer, etc… But I am not surprised that South Korea is much healthier but I was shocked how much of a big difference is between them.

In our modern world, internet is the base of our current existence. What i mean is that we can't really think of a life without internet now days, because it's an important and big part of our current world, it makes life easier, most of the time.

It's logical because North Korea is a communist country and forces every citizen to work and to do military.
