  • In comparison the gun violence per capita of the United States is 12.21 per 100,000, which is comparable to countries like Uruguay and Panama, which are developing nations. 
  • America also has the highest amount of mass shootings compared to any nation in the world.

    I believe that gun control should not be enforced since it takes away the freedom to self defend, why take away the privilege of other gun users and give it to others when everyone can just be properly trained and prepared to self defend. 

    • A poll found that 55 percent of the public doesn't want stricter gun control.
    • Nikolas Cruz, a 19 year old who gunned down high school students killed at least 17 students, even though there were gun control laws implemented, he was still able to handle a gun and not only injure students, but kill 17 of them.
    • Mandalay Bay casino shooting is another example of a mass shooting where guns laws, even if they were there. Did not matter. With almost 1000 victims, killing 58 people. it was the largest mass shooting that took place in Las Vegas. 

    I think that we do have an obligation to change the status quo of gun control currently, it would mean that many active shooting events wouldn't take place.
    Is what everyone would think. Look at all the shootings that took place even with gun control laws being implemented, nothing's changed.

    • “Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act imposition of a five-day waiting period for the 32 states previously not subject to such waiting periods, gun control supporters expected those states would have seen a reduction in crime, compared with the other 18 "control" states. But according to The Journal of the American Medical Association: "Our analyses provide no evidence that implementation of the Brady Act was associated with a reduction in homicide rates”.
    Basically saying that even though they tried implementing gun control in 32 separate states, they saw no difference in the crime rates.
    • Gun control sets the bar high for people doing illegal trades or planning a shooting, this is because they enjoy crime and if it's illegal then they will do it more often, this increases the rates of crime
    • Not only does it increase crime rates, but it influences students in high school to perform similar tasks. Think about it, how many mass shootings can you think of right now that don't involve high school students. This is because they were negatively influenced. Gun control really does nothing.

  • Reduce access to weapons that can harm, instead make it so that they must take courses and have to go through different sets of training to obtain a new gun, even if it's the same one.

    • Take away guns in general, yes they may illegally come through our borders but for the most part most of them will be gone for good. So in the long run it's a good thing.

    • It's a weapon of choice, the Human handling it is the owner and as the owner, they should have the right to handle it, so a way to control gun violence is to give everyone a handgun.

He knew that humans by nature must be allowed to be free and do what must be done, this can also include having no gun control. John’s theory relates to having now gun control since humans have all these laws and restrictions, they are being limited to what the higher power wants, hence, what the monarch wants.

    John Locke had many points of view, this can be categorized the most into categorical imperative and how if some things are illegal or not allowed, nothing should be. This can easily be recognized as the law of guns, basically saying if some guns are allowed, make them all allowed. It shouldn't matter if you are high priority or the poorest of them all, either you get to own a gun or you dont and it should go the same for everyone.
