This novel stands out to me as a reader because it was one of the very few books that caught my attention and made me want to continue reading. I loved this novel because it was very a suspenseful realistic fiction and I was constantly wondering what was going to happen next. This novel, although it wasn't the actual plot of the story that inspired me, it was how much I loved the story that inspired me to choose more novels like this one with such suspense and thrills. Before I read this book, I really didn't like to read. However after reading The Raft I realized that not all books are boring. I just concluded that I needed to find books that interested me. I found the character Mia very interesting. Her life was all over the place having a boyfriend who was much different from her other than music. However when the accident happened , this book opened my mind up to a new genre and it made me connect with the character. In the story it is told by a silver back gorilla who lived in a cage at a mall. This book impacted me because it made me look at animals differently. A zoo is an entertainment center. However what you don't realize is that the animals inside the cages aren't exactly living the life they should be. They should be out in the wild and nature instead of in a cage for people to stare at. The good thing about these fantasies are that they are a series. I liked this series because every book was distinct in its own way  with it's own adventures and there were so many books. Before reading these books I never wanted to start a series because I knew that once I had started, I had committed. I think that the part I liked most about them was the way that it was formatted.
