eMINTS is not just about using technology in the classroom. The teaching strategies are designed to allow students to formulate ideas and suggestions in addressing a solution. Teachers serve as facilitators in this process. The end result is that students gain ownership of the ideas and brainstorm the most effective ways to address a solution together.

As teachers become more versed in the process of becoming an eMINTS instructor, their willingness to let go of the reigns and let students think independently and critically generates a "fire" in their hearts. When viewing the students, you will see an engagement that focuses on working together to find answers to high level questions. Students will be working collaboratively to seek out the input of others to incorporate into the solution.

High Quality Lesson Design-- eMINTS teachers are trained to create high quality lessons which allow students to understand "why" they are learning something instead of just processing the information and moving on to another objective. These lessons are designed to meet the needs of all learners creating a diverse learning environment that engages all students and reduces classroom management issues.
Authentic Learning-- When a student can find purpose in their learning they will become more engaged. If a teacher can design a lesson that has implications to real world projects, then the act of critical thinking becomes purposeful.
Community of Learners-- It is critical for teachers to allow students to take risks while respecting each others unique input. When our students enter the work force they must be able to incorporate the ideas of many in coming to a consensus about a solution.
Powered by Technology-- students are motivated and excited to use technology tools to enhance their understanding. It also serves to create an enormous source of information that cannot be found within the classroom walls.

Its Not about the Teacher.... It is about the Student!

eMINTS teachers learn the power of letting go of the old lecture approach where the teacher knows everything and the student is to take notes about my knowledge. In an eMINTS classroom, teachers facilitate the students to learn by using trail and error, brainstorming, cooperative learning to gain their understanding. Junction Hill would benefit greatly from having teachers that put their egos aside and focus on the real reason we are educators...... THE STUDENTS
